Film Story
In 2017, I traveled to Cambodia to work as Director of Photography on a feature film based on the life of a Cambodian athlete, a production supported by the Cambodian government, directed by Manish Sharma.
Shot across Phnom Penh, Kep and Kampot, the film brought together an international crew working across different languages, cultures and ways of making films.
Coming from northern Mexico, Cambodia was both completely foreign and strangely familiar. What began as an opportunity to photograph a film on the other side of the world became an intense lesson in adaptation, collaboration and guerrilla filmmaking: learning the locations, working with the available light, solving problems quickly, and finding the image with whatever we had at hand.
